A specialty tea trader has recently launched "Japan's most convenient instant green tea", a powdered tea that dissolves completely in hot or cold water.
The trader said it was difficult to produce a completely dissolvable tea using a mortar and pestle method. It requires a factory of a certain size equipped with special machines. A tea manufacturer, established in 1883, has been making instant tea for about 30 years. The new product will be sold as a product of the trader on an OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) basis.
Expected retail price in Japan is around 6 USD for 50 grams of powder, enough for 50-60 cups.
